How come it's so hard to hem pants?

I've been hemming quite a few pants lately...I think if I do about 50 more I might actually be good at it.
I don't know how long it takes you to hem one pair of pants, but it takes me hours!

    Hey Karen! I'm doing it by machine, but getting them the right length and then getting the stitch right...just *seams* to take so flippin' long!

    So encouraging to hear it takes long for really experienced seamstresses. Takes me hours and never looks that amazing for all the effort.
