Melange a Michael Jackson?

I'm trying to think of the next MCQ Challenge called "Melange a Trois"...atleast I think that's how it's spelled. I've jokingly called it "Melange a Twat".
I think I should do 3 figures in bed saying "We thought you said 'Menage a trois'."

QUILT-BOY!

Isaac Svedberg helped me baste the quilt at Stephanies studio.
At home I showed Eric this picture on the camera.
Eric: "Quilt Boy."
Me: "QUILT BOY! That's great, I'm going to put that on my blog!"
Isaac immediately says to Eric: "I'll get you in your sleep!"
LOL!

Melange a du plus grand nombre

I crazy pieced a back for the blue and white quilt top. Why buy fabric when you can use a melange of ugly fabric? Along the lighter fabrics on the top you can see the quilt top is underneath.

Gettin' there...

It's so big and my sewing room is so full of junk that I can't even get a picture of the whole quilt!

The blue and white quilt has it's borders on now and is ready to be ironed. I finished it last night but I didn't feel very excited about it. It might be because I have a whole 'nother set of blue and white 9-patches to make a 2nd quilt with.

So do I put those away or do I trudge on and complete that one too? It has been a long time since I've worked on anything else but these little badly-sewn, miss-shapen, raggedy edges little homely blocks. 263 of them.

Why do today what you can put off until tomorrow? I think I'll just do laundry today.

A glimmer of light...

I'm starting to assemble it into rows.
Although it's almost a high when you create something of your own art, just the act of sewing is pleasant and soothing to the mind.
Now that a glimmer of light at the end of the tunnel is appearing I'm getting excited about completing the top.

Blue and White Quilts

Maybe this is why I like blue and white quilts...the sky and clouds.
I'm still working on the latest one, but have been out of town to a family reunion.

Theresa and Janet folding potato chip bags into purses! Janet was teaching us how to do it based on this blog: http://candywrapperpurse.blogspot.com/ It's the way we folded gum wrappers when we were kids, making rings of those and then stitching the rows together.
It's the 'in thing' to do.

Imagine this...

It's a beautiful sunny day and you're out driving around getting errands done.
You're sitting at a red light.
A Harley pulls up next to you, all shiny and sleek.
The Hog Owner is a 'big boned' guy in his 40's, muscles, jeans with frayed holes, a t-shirt, boots and headrag printed with dozens of US flags.
Snug behind him is his sun-tanned girl in jeans and a tank top, long brunette hair blazing.
She's doing her best to hang on to him and the cardboard flat tray of 4" annuals and perennials she just purchased, one of them in an 8" pot and about 2 feet tall!
I wish I had the camera, it was a beautiful slice of American Pie!

I'm not a reconstructive surgeon so you'll understand when I say that it took me atleast 1/2 hour to figure out how to do this.

Minnesota Quilters Duluth Quilt Show

MQ had their yearly quilt show last weekend, this year in Duluth.
I went up on Thursday with Sarah Gannett and Sharon Englund.
We had laughs all the way up and all the way back.

I added a slide show in the right column of pictures from the show (The slideshow has been removed, see this link instead: 2009 MQ Show in Duluth  ). Apologies for the quality of the pictures first off...there were a lot of people at the show and it was difficult to get straight on shots of anything, and even if I had a bay to myself it wasn't for long. And I didn't take pictures of everything...not even enough time to see everything before knees and feet start to ache.

Switching to more positive notes, the show was absolutely fabulous! There was a huge amount of absolutely gorgeous quilts to see. It was very inspiring. There were so many vendors, but I was good and only bought two quilting necessities, no fabric, no impulse purchases. That has more to do with the fact that I'm cash poor than being a savvy spender. I hope the vendors made lots of money off other people!

Next years show will be in St. Cloud. "Quilting in the Quarry" June 17 - 19, 2010.
